Video creators on YouTube need recognizable branding to stand out. This includes banner art, the profile picture, and most importantly, video thumbnails. In order to capture a potential viewer’s attention, thumbnail graphics require high contrast to stand out and split second brand recognition to be remembered.
Flexible design system
For @mattcole’s new Youtube show ‘Sideline,’ I focused on evoking a sense of storytelling, which Matt told me is his strength in video creating and his edge against other YouTubers. I collaged together typographic elements like quotations, ellipses, and exclamation points as design elements remind viewers to think about the potential stories that surround professional athletes.
